If haunting alternative folk is what you’re after, then a duo by the name of Winter 1982 from Birmingham, UK has just what you’re looking for.
It started with a single last year, becoming one of four tracks on Winter 1982’s EP, Ghost.
The EP’s title track is enthralling storytelling set to folk inspired sounds blended with a bit of an indie rock vibe, managing to create space and momentum all while a tale full of emotion and conviction takes precedence.
So Slow is poetic and melodic, with an inherent undercurrent of melancholy and darkness, while Friend showcases songwriting against immersive sounds, expanding a mere moment to an expanse of existence through words, contrasting against the despondent words shared against spacious rock eruptions in Sometimes.
