You can’t underestimate the charisma of a little garage rock, particularly when it comes to the sounds of Wolf Club Lunar Society. The project is the brainchild of Antony Flynn bringing guitars and tales with collaborative sticksmith Sammy J. Together with their musical ensemble of Peter Sim and Miss Aimes Anan, Wolf Club Lunar Society deliver their self-described frantically filthy concoction of dirty, raw, garage-rock blues.
Baby Boy first garnered attention to these tuneful folk hailing from South East London and the first few seconds are pretty telling – if ears are pricking up with the sound of that guitar riff hitting your ear drums then best to keep listening. And when you manage to combine garage rock with a little harmonica, what’s not to like?
It’s a little raw, a little blues and dishes out fun with a little chaos and rebellious spirit to the sound of a bygone era. Luckily there are more tunes from this clan …there are some gems around, including the swampier blues of 9 O’Clock.
