Moonlands released their EP Paradise Blue a few months back. The little indie four piece hailing from London came together through lifelong friendships and various stints in other bands, with a name stemming from influences far closer to Earth than the planetary cues would suggest.
The band aims to mix pop melodies with an ethereal backdrop to create a big atmospheric sound and the three tracks on the EP approach this in slightly different ways.
Years brings together brilliant guitar tones and commanding female pop vocals with lush accompaniment for a full sweeping sound, more recently even gaining the band exposure on BBC Introducing London.
But without re-hashing the same formula, the EP’s title track Paradise Blue brings a touch more rock than pop, with vocals balancing between dreamy and strength where needed for a little added intensity working with the more striking rhythms.
Adding to the eclectic mix is the whimsical Prom Song, a more classic sound with a flair of romance and unrequited love for a brief but welcomed taste of what Moonlands has to offer.
