So I finally found the time to watch Dave Grohl’s keynote address from SXSW 2013. I had some pretty high expectations after being rather impressed by none other than The Boss, Bruce Springsteen’s keynote back in 2012 but trust me, you won’t be disappointed. If you get a chance, watch it
I think the tone of the presentation is summed up pretty well by Dave early on in the keynote when he says, “It (music) became my religion. The record store my church, the rock stars my saints, and their songs my hymns.” The content won’t be entirely unfamiliar to you if you’ve read This is a Call: The Life and Times of Dave Grohl, or watched Back and Forth and/or Sound City but there’s a passion and love for music that becomes just a little more real hearing the words directly.
I won’t spoil it for you, but on a lighter note you might need to watch this clip afterwards to move from LOL to LMAO (refer to the keynote about 12 mins in)
If anything, I’m rather perplexed by the fact that people have given this the thumbs down on youtube – what?!
